Episode 115: Never Too Late: Brenda Sulmonetti’s Journey to Becoming an Artist at Any Age

  1. Linda South says:

Hi Jodie – just a little bee in my bonnet as we say in the south…Both you and Brenda spoke of watercolor in what I perceived as a deprecating way…i.e. “even if you are just doodling or doing watercolor at home, you can become an artist”. Inference was made several times. I’m just here to say watercolor is a beautiful expressive medium that is HARD! Watercolor artists are so talented, let me direct you to any of the annual SPLASH competition. https://www.artistsnetwork.com/art-competitions/splash/ Taking the bonnet off now, I’m sure you didn’t mean to dis watercolor artists.

    • Jodie King says:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Linda! – in my experience there are 2 types of watercolorists – hobbyist like myself who like to paint on vacation and professionals whose work blows my mind. In my opinion, watercolor is one of the, if not the hardest, mediums to master. There was no ill intent around these comments in the podcast but I’ll be mindful in the future. Best, Jodie!
