From Hobby to Career: How Artists Go Pro

Artists who want to move from hobbyist to professional artist stand at a big, brave crossroads. How do you know if your work is good enough to call yourself a professional artist? Do you have the business skills to take your art career seriously, and see it to the next level? 

This episode explores what it looks like to transition from creating for enjoyment to treating your art as a profession. And while it’s a road filled with fear and plenty of doubts, it’s totally possible.

How to Turn Your Art Hobby Into a Career

Here’s the truth, y’all: You don’t receive a magical permission slip from a gallery owner, a designer, or anyone else to become a professional artist. Instead, you give yourself permission by deciding to show up consistently!

In this episode, I’ll show you what you need to do to get there, like: 

• Creating art regularly, even when it’s messy or hard
• Getting uncomfortable by putting yourself out there, even when faced with the possibility of rejection
• Embracing the importance of your art and what it brings to the world

The road from hobbyist to pro is often a tricky one, but it’s one you can tackle with a little bit of confidence and a whole lot of creativity.
