WHERE: The retreat will be held in Melbourne, Australia. Taking place at The House of Gear in the stunning Mornington, Peninsula
WHO: This is for all skill levels…beginner to seasoned artist…who want to make their most Honest Art while enjoying the beauty of the Mornington Peninsula in Australia.
WHAT: Upon arrival at the Melbourne Airport, private drivers will transport you to Sorrento (about 1/1/2 hours) where you’ll be staying at the gorgeous Hotel Sorrento
Each day will be filled with time in the studio with Jodie King supporting artists with demonstrations of Honest Art, including composition, mark-making and sharing her trademarked color mixing technique.
Additionally Jodie Gear will be our host and guide, sharing unique Australian experiences found only on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Itinerary
Day One: Arrival
Welcome Dinner and Drinks in Beautiful Sorrento
Upon your arrival at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport, you’ll be greeted by private drivers and transported to the stunning Hotel Sorrento. Perched on the Sorrento clifftops, just a short two-minute stroll from the township and beach, this will be your home base for the week and the perfect place to explore the Mornington Peninsula.
After you’ve had time to settle in, you’ll gather with the group for welcome drinks followed by a delicious dinner, kicking off an unforgettable experience.

After breakfast, you’ll be transported to the beautiful House of Gear studio for a full day of painting, learning, and inspiration. Through guided demonstrations of Jodie’s signature techniques, you’ll be encouraged to stretch beyond your comfort zone and lean into your unique voice through Honest Art.
After your studio session, you’ll head to the world-class local Hot Springs. As you soak in the natural, mineral-rich waters, you’ll experience deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and the added benefits of improved sleep and circulation.

After breakfast, you’ll return to the House of Gear studio for another immersive morning of painting and creative exploration.
For lunch, you’ll be transported to one of Australia’s renowned wine regions, where you’ll enjoy award-winning wine tastings and a delicious meal, all set against spectacular views.
Afterward, you’ll return to Sorrento where you can relax or explore the charming village and local shops.

After breakfast, you’ll experience a unique and thoughtfully curated creative activity designed to capture the essence of Australia. You’ll create something meaningful to take home as a lasting reminder of your journey.
In the afternoon, you will return to the studio to have focused time to paint inspired by what you have experienced outside of the studio.

After breakfast, you’ll return to the studio for your final day of painting and artistic growth. This is where it all clicks. You’ll celebrate breakthroughs and walk away with new skills and a deeper connection to your personal artistic voice.
You’ll have time in the afternoon for local shopping or relaxation before gathering for a celebratory farewell dinner to close out the experience.
Day 6: Departure
Private drivers will provide early morning transportation back to Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport, marking the end of an unforgettable week of creativity, connection, and inspiration.
COST:
$6500 USD per person paid in full, or 4 payments of $1695
A deposit of $1695 is required to hold your spot. The remaining balance, (either one payment of $4,805 or 3 monthly payments $1695) will be charged to the credit card on file once the retreat is confirmed and our minimum number of attendees has been met.
Once the trip is confirmed:
- The trip will not be cancelled
- The itinerary, schedule, dates, and venue are set (no surprise changes)
- It has been cleared as safe by relevant local and national health and travel authorities
In the event that we need to cancel the retreat for circumstances outside of our control, you will be refunded in full along with your deposit. For full terms and conditions, click here.

Jodie King is an artist, instructor, speaker and kitchen dancer whose mission is to help others excavate their own authentic power and joy through the use of art and creativity. She possesses a combination of playful irreverence and spirituality with almost 20 years of art experience that resonates with her audience from around the world. Jodie’s “No one is the boss of you” attitude about painting, life, and creativity encourages the novice as well as the experienced to create, in her words, “honest art.”
