Menopause and Creativity: How It Affected My Art and Life

I’ve been contemplating doing a podcast episode for a LONG time, y’all, but now I think it’s finally time for me to talk about my journey. In this episode of the Honest Art Podcast, we’re talking about menopause — more specifically, menopause and creativity, and how my own experience has shaped my art.

Let me be the first to say…it hasn’t been easy. I didn’t come from a family who talked about this. There wasn’t one talk about hot flashes, or brain fog, or dry anything! So when it started happening to me, I wasn’t really aware of what was going on, and it challenged my creativity, and over time, me as a person. 

What menopause and creativity was like for me

I’m not a doctor, and I’m not here to tell you what to do. YOU are the boss of you. But I am sharing MY personal experience with menopause and how it affected my art. In this episode, I’m going to get really vulnerable and share more about:

• All the symptoms I struggled with and what eventually led me to see a doctor
• How I improved my symptoms, especially the brain fog impacting my creativity
• What I learned about life through menopause and how it’s translated into my art

If you’re in the same boat, I hope this encourages you that things will get better and you’ll find your creative spark again.
