Your Thoughts Are Stopping You: How Christen Horner Made This One Change to Catapult Her Business
“God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called.”
This was Christen Horner’s lifeline as she stepped out of the art closet. She had no formal training, no dreams or aspirations per sey of being an artist. Just a desire to create…and an intense fear of what coming out of the art closet would do for her.
I talk with a lot of guests on the Honest Art Podcast about not feeling qualified, about not feeling like a “real artist” because of their lack of formal education. I also call B.S. on all of it.
It’s kind of like that’s the M.O. of this entire show!!
But what excites me so much about Christen is her insane bravery, despite the fear she feels even now as an artist. In this episode, I get to talk to her about her experiences moving forward, despite the fear.
Now you may be wondering — how did I meet Christen? It was actually less than a year ago (at the time of this recording) inside Studio Elite! This is part of the reason I admire her so much: I’ve seen her do the things she’s been called to do in real-time!
Despite not having experience, she had passion and desire, and I’m SO glad she applied for Studio Elite.
As a 5th generation Texan from a long agricultural heritage, it’s this history that inspires her. But don’t let that fool you — she isn’t tied down to one style of art, and says, “Just like the Texas cattle, I don’t like being fenced in.”
Because each piece Christen creates is honest and has a piece of her soul somewhere in the midst. Each painting speaks of life and love to every person who sees it.
In this episode, we’re digging deeper into how Christen got there, what she struggled with, and how she maintains her bravery every day. We dig into topics like:
If you’ve ever struggled to call yourself an artist, this episode is for you!
