Don’t Wait, Create Your Own Opportunities

Y’all, it’s time we came to an agreement on something, once and for all.

Painting and hoping is NOT a strategy. 

Would you open a bakery to sell cookies, not tell anyone about it, but hope customers appeared out of nowhere? No way! 

You can’t just paint at the kitchen table forever, hoping someone somewhere will notice your work. As an artist, you need to realize that sometimes you have to make your own opportunities. Even if it means getting uncomfortable and putting yourself out there. 

Artists: It’s time to create your own opportunities

Yes, I know, putting yourself out there is absolutely terrifying. But the hard truth we have to learn is that good opportunities for artists won’t just appear out of thin air. Actually, I think I’ve had to create more for myself than what came my way unprompted.

That said, I know it can be tough to know where to put yourself. Or what opportunities yield the best results. That’s why, in this episode of the Honest Art Podcast, I’m showing you a few ways you can create them for yourself. 

This includes strategies like…

• Building community
• Where to turn other than galleries to get your art features
• Partnering with other organizations (like charities) to get your work out there
