Your Style Will Evolve as an Artist — And That’s Okay!

When we grow as people, so does our art. Our work is so deeply connected to the human experience that it’s impossible for it not to evolve that way. But when I say artistic evolution, I don’t just mean honing your skills or getting more comfortable with the business side of things.

I also mean evolving your style. Because no matter what you’ve been led to believe, it is 100% okay to let your artistic style shift. Allowing yourself the freedom to create from that shift is necessary if you want to keep making honest art.

Embracing the evolution of your style is CRUCIAL

Don’t believe me? Just take a look at the greats — from Picasso to Basquiat, and even contemporary artists in different fields like Beyoncé — shifting styles has been key to keeping artistic freedom and PLAY alive.

So in this episode, I’m going to talk more about how you can own that shift. We’ll dig into things like:

• How the greats used multiple artistic styles and still found success
• How my style has shifted in my own art career
• How flexibility with style helps us make better art
• Bridging the gap between artists and buyers, and giving both parties what they want (read: so you can keep making money even when your style changes!)

Putting yourself in a box will only stifle your creativity. Your art needs room to play, and if that play morphs into something else, then let it. That’s when the best art comes to life!
