10 Common Abstract Art Mistakes to Avoid

Abstract expressionism can say so many things…but if you’re not careful, you can easily distort those things with a few (avoidable) mistakes. 

I know in the art world, talking about “mistakes” is frowned upon a little. But y’all, after being IN this world for several years, I can really say that there are a few things that can make or break your art. 

A few things that, when eliminated, can take your work from “meh” to FINE art. (Fine as in fancy, not fine as in “just ok”). But these abstract art mistakes in abstract art may not be what you think… 

Avoid these abstract art mistakes 

I know abstract expressionism is all about, well… expressing yourself. But it’s super rare that anyone is great from the get-go. You’re not just slapping art on a canvas — you’re baring your soul. 

If we’re not careful, we can fall into the trap of thinking that talent alone can carry us, or keep us from any hangups in the creative process.
