Hindsight is 20/20. As we get older, as we get further along in our art careers, there are definitely times we look back and think, “Man…I really wish I would’ve done that differently.” 

And I know when you’re just checking out the highlight reel of people’s lives, whether that’s on social media, or in a podcast per se…it’s really easy to get trapped in the thinking that you’re on your own. That you’re the only one experiencing the things you’re experiencing. 

I know I talk a lot about being a rebel and freedom and empowerment. Those are all part of my WHY. But there’s a not-so-bright side to those that really held me back. A side that I really want to share with you because had I known what I know now…whew y’all. My life would be different. 

Why you need a mentor in your art career

The ONE and only thing I would have done differently as a new artist would have been to get a mentor. I really believe that community, having a sense of “togetherness” makes a difference in not only how we show up for ourselves as artists, but how we show up for others.
