Start a Painting with Me in My Art Studio

If you took a holiday break (or even if you didn’t), and since coming back, you’ve been standing in your studio thinking, “I don’t even know where to begin,” this episode is for you. 

Starting a painting can feel terrifying, especially after time away. Holidays, life changes, caregiving, moving, burnout. All of it pulls us out of our creative rhythm. And then we make it mean something about us. 

In this episode, I take you right into my art studio and walk you through exactly how I start a painting from the inside out. Not from perfection. Not from inspiration. From presence, play, and honesty. 

This is not about creating a masterpiece.

This is about opening the faucet and letting creativity flow through you again. 

How to Start a Painting

Before I grab paint. Before I choose a canvas. Before I worry about color or composition.

I get still.

I talk about my meditation ritual, how scent and music trigger a ground creative state, and why this practice changed everything for me and for the artists inside Studio Elite. 

From there, I share my exact painting process. 

Choosing a limited color palette.

Creating the Mother Color™.

Starting with light values.

Letting mark making express what’s actually in your body. 

No pretending. No copying other artists. No forcing pretty.
