I’ve been a business owner for many, many, many years — and not just with my art. I’ve owned a wine bar, a clothing company, did interior design…I’ve run the gamut. But while the services they provided were all different, you know what they all had in common? I had to work hard to make shit happen.

Yep — it doesn’t matter what kind of business you have, you’re going to have to put in some elbow grease and stay patient if you want things to grow. In fact, it actually takes somewhere around five to eight years before anything is stabilized as a brand (and yes artist — that means you too!). 

And of course, if you want to play the long game and see that success, you’re going to have to make money. That’s just business 101!

But what if you aren’t? Even if you know that becoming a successful art biz owner means thinking like a business owner too…why aren’t you making any money in your art biz yet?

Why there’s no profit in your art biz

It’s certainly no fun to pour your heart and soul into a piece and then…crickets. OR to pour your heart and soul into a piece, get excited that it sold, then go take a look at your P&L statements and realize that, shit! You really didn’t profit.
