Art is about so much more than just doing. 

To create is to tap into the human experience. To express yourself without restraint, and to find ways to cope with the life that’s happening around you. Art is expression, but it’s also connection. 

And by now, you probably already know that bringing honest art to as many people as possible is something I’m passionate about. That’s why, in this episode of the Honest Art Podcast, I sat down with Kelley Worden, the executive director of Art From the Streets.

This is my absolute favorite organization in the history of ever, and Kelley was kind enough to come and talk to me about the importance of art in the human experience.

About Art From the Streets

For the last 30+ years, Art From the Streets has helped create a safe and supportive space for the unhoused people of Austin, TX to come together and create, even sell, their work.

They believe that as humans, we have an innate and fundamental need to create so we can heal (can you see why we align?). They want to help people tear down the misconceptions surrounding unhoused populations and get them to see them as the dynamic and creative souls they are. 

The vehicle is art, but the purpose is connection. 

In this episode, Kelley and I talk more about:

• The mission behind Art From the Streets
• How Art From the Streets is making an impact that goes beyond painting
• Their annual gala/fundraiser happening on April 12 (which I will be helping out with!)
