Why Your Art Social Media Account Isn’t Growing

A lot of my Instagram followers have been in my DMs recently with the same question: “Why isn’t my social media growing?”

Listen, I get it. Social media is hard, especially for artists. And for some of us, it’s one of the LAST things we want to do. When you’re not impressed by your art social media account results — or you don’t love social media in the first place — it makes it really easy to just let it drop off. 

Add doomscrolling and the algorithm, plus this idea that “artists don’t use social media” (trust me, I’ve heard this one plenty)… and it’s easy to see why so many artists struggle to grow their art social media accounts.

But the truth is, we can’t always blame our lack of growth on social media on the algorithm or social media in general. At some point, we have to fess up to our own apathy — and SHOW up. 

Because there are actually things you can control when it comes to your art social media, believe it or not. Things that can actually help you GROW your social media presence as an artist.

What’s preventing your art social media from growing?

Maybe your excuse isn’t the algorithm. Maybe it’s that you think your time has passed to hop on the social media bandwagon, or that as an artist, it isn’t really your place. But I call B.S. on that. There are SO MANY art accounts thriving on social media. So why not you?
